Nancy Stitt -- KØNNC: Silent Key
We are saddened by the news that Nancy – KØNNC passed away suddenly, on December 17th, 2018, from heart failure. Nancy, along with her husband Jim – KAØNZZ, were active in starting up the club, and worked very hard at keeping it going throughout the years, until they relocated to Arizona. We are grateful to Nancy for all of her contributions of time and effort towards making the club, and the TechFest, a success.
Jim has asked that anyone wishing to commemorate Nancy's life make a donation to the American Heart Association.
Notice Regarding Membership
In prior years, we have always included TechFest attendees in our membership rolls. Beginning in 2019, membership in the club will be seperated from TechFest attendance. We would like to invite and encourage all interested amateur radio operators to support the club and become a dues-paying member. Dues are just $10 a year.
New Club Officers
At our January meeting, the club elected the following officers:
- Frank Ivan – KØFEI: President / Program Coordinator
- Bob Dotson – KDØBRA: Vice President
- Jim Langsted – KCØRPS: Secretary / Treasurer
We extend our thanks to outgoing President Larry – KØNA, Vice-President and Program Coordinator Bill – NØCU, and Secretary / Treasurer Craig – WØLIC, for their service to the club.
About the Club
The 285 TechConnect Radio Club - NAØTC was formed in 2006 by Steve - AIØW, Jim - KAØNZZ, and Nancy - KØNCC to provide a forum for technical discussions, presentations, and projects. We are an ARRL Special Service Club.
We want to provide a wide-range of learning for people interested in the technical and operating areas of ham radio to increase knowledge and license levels and provide a forum for technical learning and sharing of information. Everyone is welcome!
We are scheduled to be at Intercanyon Fire Protection District station #3, 8445 South Highway 285, for our 2019 regular meetings. Exceptions will be posted here.
Call For Speakers
The club is always looking for speakers for our meetings. If you would like to share your knowledge of amateur radio operation or a related technical topic, or know of someone who can speak at one of our meetings, please contact our speaker coordinator.
2019 Meeting Schedule
Our next regular meeting will be on March 2nd, 2019, at Fire Station #3, at 10:00 AM. We have doughnuts and coffee at 9:30.

- June 1st: Jeff Deaton N6BA - Introduction to GnuRadio for Ham Radio Enthusiasts: What is GnuRadio? If you’ve asked yourself that question then this session can help provide context around GR’s features and functionality. Topics include introduction, basic installation, and getting started with your first flowgraph, as well as a discussion of some common use cases with live demos.
